Joan A. Rodgers, 83, Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Joan A. Rodgers, 83, of Brookhaven, Pa., died June 18, 2013 at the Crozer-Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pa.

Born in Chester, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Rebecca Parvis.

Joan was a 1947 graduate of Notre Dame High School, Moylan and received a Registered Nursing degree from St. Francis Nursing School, Wilmington, Del.

She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Charity Church and a lay associate of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Joan was devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving, kind, generous person who always put others first. Her contagious smile and beautiful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Rodgers, and sons, Donald T. Rodgers, David A. Rodgers and Paul T. Rodgers.

Survivors: sons, Lawrence J. Rodgers (Loretta) of Aston, Timothy M. Rodgers of Media; daughters, Nancy M. Furmanak (John), of Media, and Joan M. Kane (Philip), of Brookhaven. Grandchildren: Ian J. Rodgers; Laura Peterson (Patrick), of Folsom; Lisa Rodgers (Brian Fairchild); Thomas Furmanak of Media; Kathleen, Jennifer and Ashley Rodgers of Media; daughter-in-law Karen Rodgers of Media; and great-granddaughter Keira Peterson of Folsom.

Visitation: Saturday, 9-11 a.m., at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave. Brookhaven, Pa.

Burial: Private
