In 1950, Edward E. Bateman opened the Bateman Funeral Home at the intersection of Edgmont Avenue & Roland Road in Parkside, Pennsylvania to serve the needs of the residents in the surrounding community. In 1960, Edward, more commonly known as Ned, saw a need to expand his base of operations and moved his business to its present location in Brookhaven. In 1975, Ned’s son, Lee, became a licensed funeral director and joined the family business as an associate. In 1982, Lee became the owner and supervisor of the funeral home.

Continuing the Bateman family legacy, Lee’s daughter, Eve, joined her father to work in the funeral home in 2005 and became a licensed funeral director in 2011. Through three generations of Batemans— Ned, Lee, and Eve Bateman have guided residents of Brookhaven and the surrounding communities in honoring the lives of their loved ones. They have proven to treat the families in their care with honesty, dignity, and compassion.

In 2020, the Bateman family was pleased to welcome Charles S. Allen into their family business. Charles has been a licensed funeral director since 2010 and was born and raised in the Penn-Delco community. He and Eve will now be operating the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, keeping the Bateman family tradition alive as an independently operated and family owned funeral establishment.

Under their leadership, you can expect the same exceptional service with dignity and compassion that you have received from the Bateman Family for the past 7 decades with an even stronger presence in the community. Charles and Eve take pride in their local ownership and are committed to being family-focused and community-driven. They strongly believe in being an active member of their community through participation at local events and charitable donations.
