Donald J. McCaney, 80, Passed away
July 5, 2010 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa.
Mr. McCaney was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa, but has resided in Brookhaven, Pa, since 1963. He attended South Catholic High School, Philadelhia, Pa. He was a Union Carpenter for 35 years before his retirement.
He belonged to Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven, Pa, and was a founding member of the Eddie O’Malley Club (EOM). He loved the beach, swimming in the ocean, and Notre Dame Football. However, more than anything else in the world he loved his family.
He was a United States Navy veteran who served in the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his parents; Margaret and Michael McCaney and his siblings; Edward, James, and William McCaney, Catherine Riley, Genevieve Cook, and Frances Hutchinson.
He was married to the light of his life, Eleanor McCaney, for 51 years.
He was the loving father of Kevin McCaney of Aston, Pa, and Shawn McCaney of Haddonfield, NJ,
Heather Giordano of Feeding Hills, Mass, and Erin Timms of Olympia, Washington. He was the brother of Michael McCaney of Florida.
He was the proud grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 1.
Funeral service will be held Saturday 10:30am at Our lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015.
Visitation will be held Friday evening 7-9pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015 and also Saturday morning 9:30-10:30 at the church.
Interment will be held SS Peter and Paul, Springfield, Pa. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Sisters of St. Josephs, Development Office, 9701 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, Pa, 19118.
