Thelma McElvarr

Thelma McElvarr (née Miller), born on January 19, 1923, in Watsontown, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, at the age of 101, in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. Thelma resided many years in Chester, PA; in Brookhaven, PA; once her husband Joseph passed away and her later years in Paul's Run Retirement Community. She spent her early years working at Fallato's Ice Cream Parlor and only worked elsewhere briefly during the time her husband, Joseph, served in the war. Primarily, she dedicated her life to being a loving mother, housewife, and cherished grandmother. A woman of many joys, Thelma held a deep affection for her family, which was at the heart of everything she did. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, cheering for the Phillies, and enjoying occasional trips to the casino. These simple pleasures brought great happiness to Thelma and those who knew her.

Hannah (Luna) Deborah XiaoShan Davis

Hannah “Luna” Deborah XiaoShan Davis, 25, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 26, 2024. Luna was born in Guangzhou, China before being adopted at the age of 2 by her parents, Gary and Deborah Davis.  After graduating from high school, she went on to study Women’s and Gender Studies at West Chester University. After graduating college, Luna held a role as an adoption coordinator. She took great pride in meeting kids where they were in the foster system and doing all she could to place them in loving homes. Luna was a passionate, creative, and gifted artist. She had a unique eye for seeing the beauty in people, plants, and the world around her. With a deep connection to nature, she was known to surround herself with butterflies, moons, plants, and other reminders of the emergent possibilities within us all. She shared that passion and light with everyone she encountered, whether through a flash of her bright smile, a thoughtful question or written word, the stroke of a paintbrush, or a fabulous makeup look. She believed in being your truest self and modeled that journey and the bravery it requires for us all.

Timothy Cowen, 64, went home to be with his Lord on August 22, 2024. He is survived by his wife Karen, children, Daniel (Kara), Jared (Krissy), Ashley, and 4 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his church family at grace Bible Fellowship Church where he was pastor for 28 years. Joseph Alberto Gonzalez

Joseph Alberto Gonzalez was born in the Bronx, New York on March 17, 1976. He then moved to Chester, Pa. Joseph was loved by everyone he came across. He was full of life. He loved his Sonic Hedgehog, Elmo, and lets not forget Snoopy, he also loved music, dancing, and parties, but most of all he loved his daily conversations with his father. Joseph was predeceased by his mother, Daisy Rodriguez, his grandmother, Petra Mercado, his grandfather, Rafael Gonzalez, and his brother Rene Rodriguez. He is survived by his father Alberto Gonzalez, his step-mother, Felicita Gonzalez, his siblings, Alberto, Margarita, Ricardo, and David Gonzalez, Bobby, Sandra, Elisa, Daisy Ivette Rodriguez, Jesenia Nguyen, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Raymond D. DiFelice, of Brookhaven, PA, passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of 81. Raymond was raised in Chester and Woodlyn, and he finally settled in Brookhaven after marriage. He was a graduate of St. Anthony’s, St. James High School, and Saint Joseph University. During his career, he worked at Westinghouse, BP, and Delcora, but his favorite career was being retired. Raymond loved spending time with family, travel, and Rehoboth Beach. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially Penn State Football and St. Joe’s Basketball.

Mary L. Catalano, age 77, of Darby Pa, formally of Philadelphia, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2024. Mary was a passionate bingo player for over 70 years and took great pleasure in dancing and engaging in arts and crafts. She also loved Wawa hoagies, spaghetti and meatballs from Olive Garden, and M&M’s. She cherished her grand dog Chloe and, above all, treasured visits from her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her friends Jim, Marty, John, and Mel, as well as by her favorite nurse Pierre.
