Date of Funeral

September 27, 2024

Richard Wayne Lundberg, 76, of Aston, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20th, surrounded by the love of his children. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Born in Chester, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1947, Richard is predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn (nee Kennedy) Lundberg, his parents, Clarence and Clara (nee Siple) Lundberg, his aunt and uncle, Edward and Ethel Satchell, and his siblings, Jeanette, David and Stephen. He is survived by his children, Richard (Jennifer), Ryan, and Kara, four Grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, Sara Mae, and Belle, Cousin June, and siblings, Barbara and Kenneth.

Richard graduated from Chester High School in 1965 and answered the call to serve his country. He was drafted in 1969, and his service took him to Korea and Germany. On January 24, 1970, during a leave, he married his soulmate, Carolyn. Together, they shared a total of 60 wonderful years, building a life filled with love and laughter. They were inseparable.

Richard was a diligent, hard worker. His younger years saw varied roles. He worked as a gas station attendant and mechanic, a welder, and as an oil delivery driver with his brother, Stephen. In the late seventies, he was hired by the Philadelphia Quartz Company, which later became Evonik, where he excelled as a Control Operator and as a respected colleague until his hard-earned retirement in 2012.

Richard was the embodiment of a dedicated family man and his devotion to those he loved was unparalleled. Not only was he a favorite brother, uncle, or cousin, but also the life of every gathering. He will be remembered for his generosity; he was the co-worker that made Christmas breakfast for the plant. He was a trusted listener people turned to in times of need. His council was to be taken to heart because it came from his own. His warmth and spirit made him the cornerstone in many of our lives. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy and kindness he brought to our lives.
