Howard B. Smith, Jr. April 13, 1918 - October 27, 2007

Howard B. Smith, Jr., age 89, died on October 27, 2007 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa. Howard was born on April 13, 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a graduate of New York University and Columbia University. Howard served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 and was combat decorated with the Purple Heart. He was a chemical engineer and sales representative. He was a president of Cesco Associates for 25 years. Howard was a member of the Wallingford Presbyterian Church and sang in their choir for 40 years. He also sang with the Valley Voices for 40 years and was president of that organization for about 15 years. Howard served as treasurer of Restauration Lodge, Sons of Norway for 10 years. He was a member of the Wallingford Tennis Club and was top seeded for several years. He was a member of the Rose Valley Folk and participated in their Variety Show for many years. Howard is survived by Nickie (Bernice), his wife of 62 years, three children, and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers. Howard and Nickie have resided in Wallingford for 54 years. He has been a devoted fan of the Braves Baseball team for about 75 years. Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 am Saturday morning at the Wallingford Presbyterian Church, 110 East Brookhaven Rd., Wallingford, Pa, 19086. The funeral service will take place Saturday at 11 am at the church. Interment will be private. Donations can be sent to the Wallingford Presbyterian Church.
