Alphonsus L. Bowe February 8, 1923 - March 8, 2009

Alphonsus L. Bowe, 86, passed away March 8, 2009 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, Pa.

Born in Wilmington, De,

he has resided in Lima for the past 3-½ years. He formerly lived in Brookhaven, Pa, for 40 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven and the American Legion. In 1949, he graduated from the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art (now University of the Arts), majoring in illustration under Henry C. Pitz. From 1949-1955, freelanced at various agencies in Philadelphia and Wilmington- most notably as Art Director at Atlantis, McAusland and MAB Paints. In 1964, joined Boeing Helicopters as a Senior Illustrator. Before retiring in 1989 after 25 years, held positions of coordinator and Producer within Boeing’s Audio Visual Department. At present, a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Boeing Management Association. He was a veteran of the US Army, WWII. He was the devoted husband of Joan Davitt Bowe for 46 years, Lima, Pa, and formerly of Brookhaven, Pa.

He was the loving father of Kathleen Mulderrig, Garnet Valley, Pa, and Eileen Nyce, Tallahassee, Fl. He was the beloved grandfather of Cara, Ryann, Jackson, and Cooper.

Funeral service Friday 10:30am at Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015.
