Philip L. Springer “Len”, 79, went home to be with his Lord on December 11, 2025 following a brief illness at University of Pennsylvania Hospital. His wife of 40 years, Janet (Harron) was by his side. Born February 23, 1946, Len was the son of the late Philip B. and Lorraine (Chaney) Springer.
Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Len and Janet lived in several other states before recently moving to Magnolia, DE. Len retired from the State of Maryland in 2003 as a Project Manager for the historic government buildings in Annapolis. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Len thoroughly enjoyed his 22 years of retirement that he often thought of as six Saturdays and a Sunday. Through the years he was an avid golfer with the highlight of his golfing days being able to play a round at Augusta National. He also loved to travel, garden, do woodworking, complete building projects with his good friend Ken, play games (especially cards), cook with Janet and became quite the baker. Len’s faith was an important part of his life. He thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in Life Groups where he was able to study and learn more, building a stronger relationship with his Savior. But more than anything Len loved spending time with his family, his children, siblings and especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Len is survived by his children, Heather Easterbrooks (Patrick), Michael LaCotti (Jeannie) and Amberleigh Orminati (Jean-Paul); siblings Jim Springer (Janet), Pat Griffin (Gary), Mike Springer (June), Ross Springer (Cindy) and Ron Springer (Robin); six grandchildren Anthony (Ashley), Ryan, Jillian, Jonathan, Caleb and Alister and four great grandchildren Annabella, Alanna, Angelo and Joss as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Len’s Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Faith Community Church 2240 S. Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1-2 PM preceding the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Community Church at 2240 S. Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901or Life of Hope Ministries at 1420 S Joplin Ave, Joplin, MO 64801.
