Mark E. Townsend May 14, 1950 - April 27, 2023

Mark E. Townsend, age 72 of Parkside, passed away on April 27, 2023. Mark was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was a very caring, devoted, and selfless person that would help anyone in need. He was born in Darby and grew up in Sharon Hill. He graduated from Sharon Hill High School in 1969 and later resided in Parkside. Mark retired as a Correctional Officer for Delaware County Prison after 28 years of service and was a part-time crossing guard for the borough of Parkside. He enjoyed gardening, lounging by the pool, watching wrestling, and cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sport teams, but most of all he loved spending time with his children.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sally (Trezise) Townsend and his parents, George and Claire Townsend

Mark is survived by his children Megan Townsend and Mark Townsend; and his sister Bonnie (Joseph) Walsh.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6-9PM and on Thursday, May the 4th be with you from 10-10:45AM at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Avenue Brookhaven, PA followed by his funeral service at 11:00AM.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, at a later date.

    I am so very sorry to hear this. Mark was always so kind to me and I feel bad that I didn’t keep in touch, at the very least to thank him for all he’d done for me. Mark was a funny, smart and caring person and I just hope that this past years that I wasn’t in touch with him, he was happy. Thank you buddy, I know the world is worse off today than it was every day you were with us in it.
