John W. Henry, Jr. passed away at home, entering his final resting place on February 2, 2022. John was born in Harrisburg, PA, on November 12, 1949 to the late John Henry and Cherlette (nee Miller) Henry. After graduating from Newport High School, John served in the Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. He belonged to the Owls Club, American Legion, and the VFW in Newport, PA. He was a hard worker, always keeping busy. He proudly owned his own store in Port Royal, PA and had multiple jobs including construction, heavy equipment operator, and over the road trucking. He enjoyed life, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his two younger brothers James W. Henry and Joseph W. Henry.
John is survived by his wife Teresa (Porter) Henry, of Brookhaven, PA; his son John William Henry, III and his wife and family of Esther, Alaska; his stepdaughter Amanda Porter Perkins and her husband and family of Chichester, PA; his siblings Jeffery (Jamie) Henry of Liverpool, PA, Joan (Carl) Rauch of Liverpool, PA, Janet Henry of Newport, PA, Joyce (Dennis) Rhoads of Fredericksburg, PA, Judy (David) Bonsall of Millerstown, PA, and Jeraldine Evener of Newport, PA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A celebration of his life will be determined at a later date. Donations can be made in John’s memory to the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax, VA, 22030 and/or any ASPCA of your choice.
