John J. Maben Jr., 77, passed away
March 27, 2010 at his home.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa, he resided in South Philadelphia and Brookhaven, Pa, before moving to Swarthmore 23 years ago. He graduated from West Catholic High School, class of 1950, and attended LaSalle College on a full track scholarship from which he graduated.
He worked for Ford Motor Company for 39 years as a truck sales engineer.
He was a fun loving man who always made people laugh. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and wintering in Florida. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a Us Army veteran during the Korean War.
He was the loving husband of 52 years to Ida Maben.
He was the son of Eleanor Maben of Darby, Pa, and the late John Maben Sr.
Devoted father to four girls and their husbands; Ida and Scott Eckhardt of Prospect Park, Pa, Alice and Bill Garrity of Narberth, Pa, Jacqueline and Mark West of Lansdowne, Pa, and Anne and James Walsh of West Chester, Pa. He was the brother of
Patricia Leahan of North Carolina and the Proud grandfather of Duncan, Ida, and John Eckhart; Alison, Grace, Elizabeth, and Sarah Garrity; Mark and Jacqueline West; and Amelia Rayburn. Great grandfather of Taylor Carbo West.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday 10:30am at Notre Dame de Loardes, 950 Michigan Ave., Swarthmore, Pa, 19081.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 9:30-10:30am at the church.
Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa, 19064.
