James Parker of Brookhaven died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in his sleep at Kindred Hospital in Havertown, PA, from diabetic and other life-threatening complications. He was 52.

Born in Camden, NJ, son of Robert E. Parker, Jr. and the late Veronica (MacDonald) Parker of Cherry Hill, NJ, he was a 1978 graduate of Camden Catholic High School. He also attended William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ.

Jim was a 25 year employee with Sodexo, Inc. most recently at the Wilmington Psychiatric Hospital in Food Service. Prior to that, he spent 1992 through 2006 as the Food Service Director at the Elwyn Institute in Elwyn, PA. An active volunteer firefighter for the Brookhaven Fire Company, he would spend part of his vacation time every October, visiting the local elementary schools during Fire Prevention Week, teaching young kids how to save themselves in a fire. He was a member of the The Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and a member of Our Lady of Charity Parish. Jim was an avid sports fan and a culinary expert who enjoyed entertaining people.

Most of all, Jim was a devoted and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maryann (Tazik) Parker, two daughters, Devon Grace and Noelle Katharine, all of Brookhaven, a sister, Nancy Parker Ricci, Springfield, NJ, two brothers, John Parker of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Robert E. Parker III, of Jupiter, Fl., a friend, Larry Bakey, who was a like a brother, a brother-in-law, Ray Ricci and sister-in-laws, the late Janet Majikas, Kathleen Kueny, Lorraine Scanlin, Noreen Mazenko and Tanya Petrovich Parker, 10 nieces and nephews, Amy, Derek, Vincent, Julie, James, Sarah, Michael, Lily, Noah, and Sage, many cousins, friends and firefighter brothers.

Funeral arrangements.

Family and friends are invited to his funeral Mass Saturday 10:30am in Our Lady of Charity Church 231 Upland Road Brookhaven, Pa 19015. Viewing in the church from 9am, Burial Private.
