James I. Hino was born on March 8, 1931. James was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia. He graduated from John Bartram High School in 1948. Jim worked for UPS for 17 years and retired from the United States Post Office, Media in 1993 after 26 years of service.

Our dad certainly lived and loved life to the fullest always making his family #1. Dad was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, music, family vacations, and the ponies. He made it a priority to attend his grandchildren’s school and sports activities.

He is predeceased by his grandsons Jimmy Kelly and Jeff Whelan.

He is survived by his wife Margaret McKelvey Hino. Jim and Marge were married 57 years. He is also survived by his daughters Kathleen (Bill) Schade, Marjorie (Don) Phillips, Diane (Kirby) Hino, Maureen (Scott) Whelan, Christine (Dave) Argo, and Gail (Rich) Costigan; 15 grandchildren Billy, Donny, Suzanne, Danny, Nikki, Lauren, Amanda, Jesse, Jackie, Corey, Josh, Michael, and Ryan; 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday 10:30am at Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Friday 7-9pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015 and also Saturday morning 9:30-10:15 at the church. Interment Green Mount Cemetery, West Chester, Pa. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 1615 West Chester Pike, Suite 102, West Chester, Pa, 19382 and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
