J. Alfred Davis, Jr., 90, passed away December 3, 2016 at his home. Born in Claymont, De, he was a life-long resident of Wallingford, Pa. He graduated from Nether Providence High School, class of 1944 and worked for Scott Paper as an electrician for 36 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the former chief of the Garden City Fire Company where he belonged for 72 years. He also belonged to the Chester Masonic Lodge No. 236 and Christ United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Providence Avenue United Methodist. He loved to read, travel, and being surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Arlene Davis (nee Lantz) who passed away earlier this year; his parents J. Alfred, Sr. and Mildred Davis; his siblings Earl Davis and Mildred Jennings; and his grandson Matthew James Davis.
He is survived by his children Barbara Chivalette (Bob), Diane Greene (Tom), Jim Davis (Beckie), Rob Davis (Melinda), and Debbie Gosner (Chuck); his sister Mary Vercoe; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild with twins on the way.
Funeral service Friday 11am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave, Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Friday 9-11am at the funeral home. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, Pa.
