Albert N. Montella November 18, 1920 - May 26, 2022

Albert N. Montella, father, grandfather, Great Albert, 101 years old, passed away on May 26, 2022, after a long and fruitful life at his home in Hernando, FL.

Albert was born November 18, 1920, in Philadelphia to the late Nick and Macolata (Arfieri) Montella. He said he was going to live till 110. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during WWII as a gunner on CV 12 USS Hornet. While operating on the seas outside Japan, he suffered minor hearing loss. This did not stop him, he stayed right in the thick of things till he was relieved of duty. This is the type of man Albert was, when the job is completed, then it is time to take a break. Albert was employed by and retired from The Delaware County Courthouse in Media. He was a member of Brookhaven Fire Co., and his Hometown Hero banner, honoring him for his military service proudly hangs from a telephone pole right outside the firehouse. Family came first to Albert, whether being involved with his son’s sporting events, mentoring them throughout their careers, or just being a great dad. After his son’s were grown, he continued with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it was trips to the shore, birthdays, holidays, pizza nights, or family gatherings, Albert was always involved and loved being with family.

Albert married Dorothy Pecoraio in 1941, and they were together for 71 years until she passed away on December 24, 2012. Albert and Dorothy settled in Delaware County and raised their family, he always considered Delaware County his home. Albert previously resided in Middletown, Delaware County, Chalfont, and Brookhaven.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Pecoraio), parents, Nick and Macolata Montella, two sisters, two brothers, and his son, Robert “Bob” Montella.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Montella (Mary), of Hernando, FL; six grandchildren, Michelle (Robert), Gerald Jr. (Kathy), Dante (Melissa), Robyn (Patt), Robert Jr, (Patti), and David (Janet); 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday June 3, 2022 from 9:30-10:45am at Our Lady of Charity Catholic Church, 231 Upland Rd. Brookhaven, PA followed by his funeral mass at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest Monday, alongside his wife Dorothy at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Albert’s name may be made to the: Brookhaven Fire Co. Station 52, 2 Cambridge Road # 52 Brookhaven, PA 19015.
