Ralph Joseph DeMaio, 88, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 6th, 2025.
Born and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania, Ralph was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Chester, attended the parish grade school and served as an altar server. There he made lifelong friends with Charles H. Leslie. The two shared countless memories together.
After graduating from Saint James Catholic High School for Boys in 1955, he began a forty year career at Boeing, where he worked for many years as a dedicated Union Committeeman. He made great friendships on the job. He later served a courthouse crier at the Delaware County Courthouse, where he carried his trademark discipline and deep respect for order into the courtroom.
Ralph was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan. He loved cheering on the Eagles and Phillies, never missing a chance to watch a game or talk sports with family and friends. Whether they were winning championships or rebuilding for the next season, Ralph stood by his teams with great pride.
More than anything, Ralph was a family man. He was married to his lifelong sweetheart, Grace, for 60 years. Their marriage was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories shared with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His presence was steady, his heart was kind, and his sense of humor brought smiles to everyone around him.
Along with his wife, Grace DeMaio (Sherrer), Ralph is survived by his children: Joseph R. DeMaio (Sarah) and Michele Monaghan (Terrence); his grandchildren: Lauren Dudek (Kevin), TJ Monaghan (Chelsea), Justin Monaghan, Ava DeMaio, Luke DeMaio and Cora DeMaio; as well as his great grandchildren Mason and Emma Dudek and Colton and Weston Monaghan.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, August 12th from 9:45-10:45AM at Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven, PA, 19015, followed by his funeral mass at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Ralph’s memory to the St. James Alumni Association Scholarship Fund (1499 E. 9th Street, Eddystone, PA 19022).
