John A. Dukes, Sr. March 13, 1956 - September 3, 2025

Date of Funeral

September 10, 2025

John A. Dukes, Sr., 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on September 3, 2025, at his home. He was a resident of Collingdale until moving to Glenolden 22 years ago. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner class of 1974 and went on to work for Coca-Cola as a truck driver for 31 years. During his career, he also worked part time for ACME and moved to full time after his retirement.

John was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved fishing/crabbing with his grandkids. His favorite place to be was his front porch, chatting with his neighbors. He was known by everyone and knew all the happenings in the neighborhood. He was genuinely liked by all who knew him and was often called upon to be the peacemaker. He was a great listener with a wonderful personality; an altogether great guy who will be missed deeply.

He was predeceased by his father Robert Dukes and granddaughter Hannah Fisher.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years Janet Dukes; his mother Margaret Dukes; his loving children John Dukes, Jr., Andrea Meighan (Joe), Jennifer Vincent (Eric), Jason Dukes, Matthew Dukes, Stephanie Fisher (Neil), and Nicholas Sexton (Amanda); his grandchildren Kaylee, Trevor, Connor, Matthew, Peyton, Marley, Annalise, Levi, Owen, Jack, and Abigail; 3 great grandchildren Raegan, Lucas, and Charlotte; his siblings Robert Dukes, Steven Dukes (Donna), Floyd Dukes, Margaret April, Joseph Dukes, and Joan Kelly (Tom); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Wednesday (September 10) 9-11am at St. Joseph Church, 500 Woodlawn Ave., Collingdale, PA, 19023 with a service to follow at 11am. Burial private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org). Arrangements made by the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA.
