Doris R. Yorden, 95, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Paoli Hospital. Born in Chester, PA, she was a lifelong resident of Brookhaven. She graduated from Nether Providence High School, class of 1948 and went on to work as a lab technician at Sun Oil for 10 years. While raising her family, she spent many hours volunteering her time in the community. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Brookhaven Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and a Water Aerobics instructor. She was also the Uniform Chairman for the Brookhaven Junior High and the Sun Valley Marching Band, where she proudly sewed 40 intricately designed flags for the SV Marching Band. Once her children were older, she was the head greenhouse grower for Scallan’s Wholesale Greenhouse for 20 years. She loved to sew and garden but loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years Raymond E. “Ray” Yorden; her parents Samuel and Mayrene Reed; her sons Raymond (Skeeter) Yorden and Mark Yorden (Cynthia); her brother Samuel Reed; and her guardian Amy Marshall Schaefer.

She is survived by her loving children Amy (Jerry) Swantner and Paul Yorden; her daughter in law Kathleen Yorden; her grandchildren Kathryn Watson (Dan), Jillian Rodriguez (John), Raymond M. Yorden, and Amy Yorden (Nick Petrillo); her great grandchildren Benjamin Watson, Violet and Gavin Rodriguez, and Nora Yorden-Petrillo; and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Patty, Paulette, Tootie, Janine, Mary, Heather, Judy, and Renee for your loving friendship to Doris throughout the years.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday (December 20, 2025) at 11am at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA, 19015 with a viewing beginning at 10am at the church. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Aston, PA. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements made by the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA.     Aunt Doris is the last matriarch of our family. She certainly was an independent powerhouse. She has left a wonderful legacy.

    Lots of love and hugs to all the family. I will certainly miss Doris. I loved her like another mom. She has helped me by being a good listener and has cared about me and been interested in my life always. I did appreciate her so much. She always gave me wise advice. RIP my good friend. xoxo
