Robert W. Shinn, 90, of Upper Chichester, PA, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021. He was born in Chester, PA, to the late Thomas W. And Hazel M. Shinn on July 9, 1931. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas W. Shinn, Jr. and his sister Doris Krupla.

Bob is survived by his three children: Robert W. Shinn, Jr. and his daughters Gayle Shinn and Cindy Garzia, two grandsons Kyle Garzia and Shawn Shinn, and companion of 36 years Ginny MacFeeters.

Bob grew up in the Sun Village community in Chester where he graduated from Chester High in 1949 as a football standout. He was a proud graduate of the University of Delaware. Starting at a young age, he worked an assortment of jobs before beginning his 40-year career with Sunoco in 1951 where he had an outstanding achievement of co-authoring sixteen patents. He was a 63-year member of the LuLu Shriners and was an avid DIY’er his entire life always fixing or building things. Working on cars was also a passion of his. He was a sports enthusiast and loved watching football and NASCAR. As an avid supporter and fan of his grandchildren’s’ sports, he never missed a game.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 9th at 6pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, PA, 19015. Visitation Thursday 5-6pm at the funeral home. Burial private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (act.alz.org), 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL, 60601.
