Michael W. Gommer, 41

Michael Gommer, 41, of Media, Pa., passed away December 30, 2016. Michael was born in Upland, Pa.,  raised in Brookhaven, Pa., and is a 1993 graduate of Sun Valley High School. He is also a graduate of the Delaware County Community College Municipal Police Academy. 

Mike was a detective in Upper Dublin Twp. and previously worked for the Brookhaven and Upper Darby Twp. Police Departments. He also was an instructor for various law enforcement and first aid courses. 

Mike was a past member of the Parkside Fire Company and was a Pennsylvania Department of Health EMT. He coached his children’s baseball, soccer, and basketball teams for Rose Tree Media, was an avid runner and took great pride in finishing the Philadelphia Marathon. 

An extremely active person, Mike loved being outdoors. He will be remembered for his dedication, love for his family and his genuine and kind nature. He was full of life and made an impression on everyone he met. Mike will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Mike is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Rose and Harry Sauers; paternal grandparents, Elaine Trice and Gene Gommer; and his niece, Heather Egan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Stacy (nee Sullivan) Gommer; his parents Katherine “Tina” and Gene Gommer III; his in-laws, Karen and Gary Sullivan; his children, Michael II, Jack, Katie, and Ashley; his sister, Jennifer Egan (Bruce); his brother-in-law, Ryan Sullivan; and his nieces, Emily and Erin Egan. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Thursday and 9-11 a.m., Friday at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Road, Brookhaven, Pa.  

Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the church. 

Internment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, Pa.
