Joan S. Abrams

Joan S Abrams, age 89, a longtime resident of Parkside and Brookhaven, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2026 at home surrounded by her family.

Joan was born on June 3, 1937 to the late Michael and Catherine (Zola) Semcheski at the Zola family home in Plymouth, PA.

Joan was predeceased by her parents and brother John Richard Semcheski.

She was blessed by her son Michael T (Nena Saunders) Abrams; brothers, Michael (Penny) Semcheski and Thomas (Karen) Semcheski. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joan was employed by FMC Corporation in Philadelphia, and previously American Viscose Company in Marcus Hook, for 39 years as an administrative assistant.

Joan cherished her Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Charity Church. She enjoyed being involved with the church’s social committee and took great pleasure in creating beautiful crafts.

Earlier in life, Joan was a devoted member of St. Hedwig’s Church in Chester, PA until its closing. She was actively involved in the church community, serving in various positions with the PTA, co-chairing the annual Catholic Charities Appeal, and serving on the Finance Council.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Tuesday, September 15th 2026, from 10-11a.m. at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church, 617 S. Providence Rd. Wallingford, PA 19086, with her funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment to follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
