George R. Cobourn, Jr., age 89, a longtime resident of Brookhaven, passed away on October 14, 2022. Born in Middletown, George, his brother Reece, and sister Elsie were raised on the family farm which was land granted to the Cobourn family by Sir William Penn.
Within sight of the farmhouse, George built his family home on Brookhaven Road in 1952. After the passing of his wife, Shirley, George moved to his new home in Bethel Township, PA.
George graduated from Nether Providence High School in 1950 where he loved participating in football and baseball. He was a highly regarded Research & Development Mechanic for Sun Company from which he retired after 40 years of loyal service.
George was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan and loved watching the Eagles and Phillies. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was attending activities of his much-loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Cobourn (nee Campbell), his brother, Reece and sister, Elsie.
George is survived by his sons, Don and George III (Doreen), and his daughter Cheryl (Bill). Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA., followed by his funeral service at 11 AM.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA.
