Edward T. Simmons, Jr., age 84, passed away September 22, 2022 at Riddle Hospital from complications of a stroke suffered 14 years ago. He fought every day since then, up until the very end.
Born July 31, 1938, Edward graduated St. James high school in Chester, class of 1956 and has been a Brookhaven resident for 59 years, previously from Chester, Pa. He worked for the Sun Olin refinery for 21 years as a boiler operator in Claymont, DE, until his retirement 1993. He then went on to work at Fair Acres Geriatric Center as a housekeeper until he retired in 2000.
He was a US Air Force veteran, airman first class from 1957-1961.
Edward enjoyed trout fishing, coin collecting, citizens band radio, and A.C. Casino trips with his wife, Alice.
He was married to Alice Simmons (Suda) for 54 years who passed in 2017 and was the son of the late Edward T Simmons Sr. and Dorothy Simmons (Bowman), and brother to the late Margaret Mazzola. He is survived by his two devoted son’s Steven Simmons and Mark Simmons and his brother John Simmons. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Zoey.
Funeral mass Tuesday 11am at St. John’s Chrysostom, 617 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA, 19086. Visitation Tuesday 10-11am at the church. Burial Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Online condolences can be sent via www.batemanallenfuneralhome.com
