Dorothy M. Suda

Dorothy “Dot” Suda, 95, passed away April 20, 2026, at Naamans Creek Country Manor. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was raised in Chester and graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1949. She met her husband, Tom, at the 1949 Chester HS graduation dance. It was the last song of the night when he went over and asked her to dance; they have been faithfully together ever since. She moved to Brookhaven in 1959 and worked at Delaware County National Bank as a bookkeeper. Dot was a very caring, kind, and gentle soul who loved just being home and in her yard. She never gave up during her several rehabilitation stays and always tried her best to get better so she could get back home.

She enjoyed listening to Polka music and was a great polka dancer. She enjoyed needlepoint, arts and crafts, reading, and collecting Cabbage Patch dolls, Beanie Babies, and Ukrainian Eggs (pysanky). She also loved and had many cats. She was also a great cook and baker. When she was younger, she worked in her father’s bakery; she enjoyed making homemade bread, pastries, and Polish dishes.

Dot was a kindhearted woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand and always put her family’s needs before her own. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her parents Pauline and Frank Trush; her bother William Trush; and sister Jennie Fidyk.

Dot is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years Thomas Suda; her loving children Thomas Suda, Jr. (Janice), Ron Suda (Lynne), and Don Suda (Eileen); grandson Matthew Suda (Kathryn); and great grandchildren Berdie and Fern Suda.
